IFLA 2024 World Council takes place in Istanbul

The IFLA World Council was held in İstanbul on September 2-3, 2024, gathering representatives from IFLA’s five regions prior to the 60th IFLA World Congress.

During the two-day World Council, regional presidents shared activity reports, and discussions on IFLA’s governance structure, collaborations, and communication strategies took place. The Council concluded with presentations from new IFLA partners. Key highlights included updates on upcoming IFLA World Councils and Congresses scheduled for 2025 in Nantes, France, and 2026 in Hong Kong. The United States was approved as the host for the 2027 event.
