Urban Garden Award 2022

APAP - Associação Portuguesa dos Arquitectos Paisagistas - URBAN GARDEN AWARD ‘22!

Our Portuguese National Association of Landscape Architects APAP - Associação Portuguesa dos Arquitectos Paisagistas- is organising an International Landscape Architecture Competition for landscape architects and landscape architecture students in partnership with ExpoSalão, IdeasForward and Anteprojectos magazine.

This competition aims to launch a debate of ideas that promotes reflection on the connecting axis to the city of Lisbon, from the port to the airport, focusing on the South and Southeast Fluvial Station – Praça das Partidas axis at the Humberto Delgado Airport.

2022 marks the centenary of the birth of the architect Gonçalo Ribeiro Telles and the first edition of the URBAN GARDEN AWARD’22 competition aims to celebrate this event. So, with this competition, we intend to continue the idea of connecting axes (green corridors) between the city center and the outskirts (peripheral park) and launch a new challenge “URBAN SUSTAINABILITY CORRIDOR – from the port to the airport”.

The objective for this competition is to launch a debate of ideas that promotes reflection on the connecting axes to the city of Lisbon, from the port to the airport, focusing on the South and Southeast Fluvial Station – Praça das Partidas axis at Humberto Delgado Airport , intended to be a tool for the transmission of knowledge, the promotion of debate and the awareness and mobilization of citizens for the issues in question, in areas as important for the city of Lisbon as Martin Moniz, Avenida Almirante Reis, the Praça do Chile, among others.

At a time when the effect of climate change is becoming increasingly evident and represents a particular challenge for countries in the South, it is necessary to increase responsibility and commitment and place climate change at the center of the agenda. In order to achieve these objectives, it is necessary, from the outset, to produce content and inform, promoting public awareness of the protection, preservation and enhancement of heritage; contribute to the planning of our territories and the design of the cities of the future, in their contemporary challenges and in issues such as biodiversity, health, adaptation to climate change, the promotion of urban-environmental heritage and social inclusion and cohesion.

Deadline for sending proposals: April 03, 2022, until 18:00 hours (Lisbon time)
