Steffi Schüppel

Working Group Chair

Steffi graduated from Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Dresden (FH) in Germany as Dipl.-Ing. Landespflege. She holds a Master degree in Landscape Architecture achieved in Switzerland and Germany at the joint university program of HSR Rapperswil, FH Weihenstephan and HfWU Nürtingen-Geislingen. At HSR Rapperswil, she achieved a Certificate of Advanced Studies in project management.

She enjoyed her early days in the career working overseas for Olin Partnership, Philadelphia, one of the main Landscape Architecture firms of the USA. Afterwards she collaborated with several offices throughout Germany, before she started to realize projects on her own responsibility. The chance to work in teaching and research for HSR Hochschule für Technik Rapperswil, a main Swiss landscape architecture school, gave her the opportunity to contribute to projects in cultural heritage development, landscape design and sustainable tourism. Later on, she worked for a landscape architecture practice near Zurich, also managing complex public projects. Together with her partner Matteo Cattaneo she founded her own landscape architecture practice in 2011, she currently practices in Dresden, Germany.

She is a chartered member of the Chamber of Architects of Saxony, with the qualification of Landscape Architect. She is a member of bdla - Bund Deutscher Landschaftsarchitekten, the Federation of German Landscape Architects, where she serves as spokesperson for international affairs. From 2015 to 2022 she was chairwoman of the regional group of bdla Saxony. She is also a member of AIAPP - Associazione Italiana di Architettura del Paesaggio, the Italian Association of Landscape Architecture. From 2011 to 2012 she was chairwoman of the Zurich regional group of BSLA - Bund Schweizer Landschaftsarchitekten und Landschaftsarchitektinnen, the Swiss Federation of Landscape Architects.

Alessandro Martinelli

Previously involved in research projects and didactic activities at the Accademia di architettura in Mendrisio and the International Institute of Architecture in Lugano Vico Morcote, the Berlage Institute in Rotterdam, the Barcelona Institute of Architecture, the Canadian Centre of Architecture in Montreal, the Archivio Cattaneo in Cernobbio, the Shih Chien University and the Huafan University in Taipei, Alessandro Martinelli, Ph.D., is Associate professor at the Department of Landscape architecture, the Chinese Culture University, Taipei. He is also the editorial director of ListLab Publisher (listlab.eu), Chair of the Education & Academic Affairs Committee, International Federation of Landscape Architects, Asia Pacific Region Charter, and works together with BIAS Architects & Associates (biasarchitects.com) on architectural and curatorial projects that concern the public space today.

Tobiloba Akibo

Tobiloba has been practising as a landscape architect for 8 years, she has a first degree in Architecture from Covenant University, and a Master of Science in Landscape Architecture from University of Lagos, she is committed to landscape ecology and conservation, with specific interest in exploring historic landscape preservation and the evolution of landscape architecture styles within open spaces in pre and post-colonial Nigeria. She has extensive experience in public park design,  private residential landscaping and garden design. She has also volunteered her time at Legacy 1995, a historical preservation group in Nigeria focused on preserving historic monuments and sites in Nigeria where between 2016-2020, she served as the ground manager and membership secretary,  where she worked with a team that aimed to preserve the landscaping and grounds of the site in the landscape style of the 1800's in Lagos, Nigeria to match the existing historical building on the site. 

A registered member of the Society of Landscape Architects in Nigeria(SLAN), she currently practices in Abuja, Nigeria.

Hala Chmaitelly

Hala Chmaitelly is a landscape designer and an agricultural engineer based in Beirut, Lebanon, with a wide experience in planning and ecological studies, urban landscape design, agricultural advisory on regenerative agriculture, farm planning and urban agriculture. Hala’s work experience extends beyond the borders of the State of Lebanon to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, and Malaysia, addressing large and small-scale projects in the public and private environments.

With a bachelor’s degree in agriculture and a master’s degree in Plant science from the American University of Beirut, Hala is a registered and a certified member of the Order of Architects and Engineers in Lebanon, part of the executive committee of the Landscape architecture chapter. Hala is also the recently elected Secretary of the Lebanese Landscape Association (LELA) member of International Federation of Landscape Architecture World (IFLA World). Hala’s passion lies in integrating nature, agriculture and the environment within our living experience.

Ana Enriqueta Tejera Sardi

Architect graduated in Venezuela in 2000 (UJMV) first of her class, with a degree in Interior Design (Bachelor of Science in Interior Design) in the United States of North America (Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale 2002) Cumlaude, studied for a Master's degree in Landscape Architecture (UCV 2012) with a thesis with an excellent recognition. As a Ph.D. Candidate in Architecture from the Central University of Venezuela, she research the rural and cultural landscapes (heritage) related to the Treasuries of the Venezuelan Aragua Valleys.

Substiture delegate for Venezuela Singapore (2018) and Norway (2019), Guatemala (2022) Vice President of APAC-IFLA for Central America and the Caribbean, and Delegate of IFLA for Venezuela since 2023. She has been a Director for more than 15 years of Catleya Jardín C.A Landscape architecture company located in Caracas. She has worked for architectural offices (Architect W. James Alcock, National Architecture Award), private landscape architect (Landscape architect Elias Gonzalez Sanavia) as well as for government offices with the Architect Federico Villanueva (CONAVI National Housing Council 2000). She has participated in landscape architecture projects at different scales

"First green clinic in the country" (Prize National Architecture Award 2019-Construction Award 2018). Luca Csepely-Knorr

Professor Luca Csepely-Knorr is a landscape architect and art historian, working as Chair in Architecture at the University of Liverpool School of Architecture.

Her research focuses on the intersections of architecture, landscape architecture and urban history in the 19th and 20th centuries. She is leading the AHRC funded projects 'Women of the Welfare Landscape’ as well as the 'IFLA 75: Uncovering Hidden Histories', that brings together archivists, researchers and practicing landscape architects to understand the history and future of the International Federation of Landscape Architects.
